81st – Provincial AGM 2022

Mark your calendar for our 81st Annual General Meeting (AGM) that will be held in virtual mode on Sunday, October 2, 2022.

Knowing that the last 2 years have been financially difficult at both the squadron and provincial levels, your Provincial Board of Directors (BOD) have chosen to hold this meeting in virtual mode again this year.

The AGM is scheduled to take place at 10:00 a.m. using the Zoom platform which will be graciously provided by the national.

Again, this year, to facilitate the process and to alleviate the videoconference platform, only voting members will be able to participate. In accordance with article 3.2.1 of our by-laws, the voting members are:

  • Squadron chairpersons or their substitute;
  • Regional coordinators or their substitute;
  • Members of the QOVPC BOD; and
  • Members of the Advisory council.

More details will be provided in due course.  In the meantime, don’t forget to mark your calendar for this important annual meeting.

Effective Speaking 2023 – registration underway

PUBLIC SPEAKING, YOU CAN LEARN IT!

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN THE CHALLENGE?

Just like writing and reading, oral communication is an integral part of our daily lives. Acquiring this skill allows us, among other things, to “learn to question ourselves and others in order to inform ourselves or receive feedback on different subjects”.

What is the purpose of speaking well?

Whether it’s for a job interview, negotiating a contract or expressing one’s point of view during a discussion with friends or at a family dinner, no one can escape the fact that in everyday life, they have to convince their interlocutors.

Effective speaking is the art of speaking well, of convincing and persuading through the use of words. To arouse the assent of his audience is essential to the success of a speech. But how do you go about it? How to structure your speech? How to work on your elocution? How to manage your stress? How to occupy the space ? How to make your body speak by mobilizing non-verbal language? Speech is not given, we use it, we tame it, and this, in the hope of making it a communication tool.

The goal of effective speaking

To help build confidence and learn to tame your fears and enhance your voice so that you can confidently face the world ahead.

Are you ready for the challenge?  Register now by completing the ACC54 form.

All participants must complete the registration form, starting with the local level.

You can see or review the speeches of last year’s provincial winner, Sergeant Karam Albatal of 687 Richelieu Laval Squadron, by clicking on the speech of your choice : prepared or impromptu.

It is with great regret that the Provincial office team informs you of the passing of one of our volunteer members, Mr. Edmond Lanthier.

Very few details have been provided to us at this time. It seems that his health had greatly deteriorated in recent weeks, and it is with sadness that we were informed of his death on Thursday morning.

Following his 47-year military career where he served with several elements, including CIC, Edmond joined the Air Cadet League of Canada (Quebec and Ottawa Valley) in 1999.  He has held several positions over the years.  He was Provincial chair and Executive Director from 2003 to 2005, Provincial treasurer, member of the Advisory Council and Squadron Advisor, most recently for 500 Outaouais Squadron.  Edmond was awarded the Honorary Life Member of the ACL in 2017.

To all his team-mates, collaborators as well as all his friends who have had the chance to work with him within the great family of the League, the chair of the QOVPC joins us to offer our sincerest condolences as well as the expression of our deepest sympathy.
