Volunteers

The QOVPC is made up of over a thousand volunteers working at various levels of the organization throughout Quebec and the Ottawa Valley. Volunteers are a cornerstone of the Air Cadet Program. This section provides you with tools for your work, including training, information on League recognition for volunteers, and information on the Air Cadet Lottery. But are you aware of what our volunteers do?

At the local level

Volunteers form the squadron’s sponsoring committee. Their work is essential at the local level to support the squadron financially and for their premises, but also for all kinds of other activities, such as helping with the planning or preparation of special events, participating in selection committees for promotions and/or summer camps, taking part in the public speaking program, and so on.

At the regional level

Volunteers who have gained experience at local level can then choose to join the regional team. In this way, they can become advisors for one or more SSCs, helping to train the next generation of volunteers. The regional team is headed by a coordinator who is responsible for the smooth running of the SSCs under his or her authority, with the support of his or her team. He or she is responsible for working in collaboration with the regional officers of the Regional Cadet Support Unit (RCSU) and the provincial office to ensure coordination of issues in his or her region. More information on the work of the regional committee is available in document CPQVO-161 Description of Duties of Regional Committees.

At the provincial level

Once all this experience has been acquired, a volunteer may apply to the Nomination Committee to become a member of the Board of Directors (Board). Board members are elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting held in the fall of each year. More information on the work of the Board is available in document CPQVO-160 Description of Duties for Members of the Board of Directors.
