Passing of Welley Gérard Cyr

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Welley Gérard Cyr, a passionate supporter of the Air Cadet program. Mr. Cyr passed away on January 14 at the age of 95. Mr. Cyr had a long career in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Between 1956 and 1972, he accumulated 3,500 flying hours on the Neptune and Argus aircrafts, and 1,500 flying hours on the Hercule C130. After a 24-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces, he became a real estate appraiser in Ontario. During his retirement, Mr. Cyr volunteered with several community organizations, including the cadet program. Mr. Cyr has supported the Quebec and Ottawa Valley Air Cadet Program for nearly 12 years, funding regional scholarships in the northern sector since 2013 and provincial scholarships, beginning in 2024-2025. His generosity will continue to support the air cadet program for many years to come.
