Awards

The volunteers of the Air Cadet League of Canada are enthusiastic and creative, and want to help the Air Cadet Program by supporting the military team with which they regularly interact, and by respecting the policies, procedures and regulations of the national headquarters and of the provincial committee to which they belong. Without the tireless donation of time, skills and resources from our volunteers, we would not be able to accomplish our mission.

But while the work of our volunteers is rewarding, it’s also burdensome and sometimes a little frustrating. Volunteer recognition is therefore an important part of our responsibilities, whether at local, regional, provincial or national level.

National awards

The National Headquarters of the Air Cadet League of Canada offers a series of prestigious awards. But hurry, because the deadline for nominations for 2025 is January 31, 2025. Information on national awards is available on the National Headquarters website: Honours and Awards Handbook,  and the form to be completed is also available: ACC50: Honours and Awards Nomination Form.

Provincial awards

At the provincial level, there are three mechanisms for recognizing the work of our volunteers:

The Volunteer of the Year award, given to a volunteer who has stimulated interest in the Air Cadet Program, and in recognition of services rendered to the League. The volunteer’s involvement must be above average, and is evaluated according to the following criteria: commitment; ability to mobilize; determination in his or her duties; diversity of actions; impact of his or her actions on his or her squadron, on the League and in his or her community; and innovation.

The Long Service Medal, which is awarded to a member in recognition of ten years of volunteer service to the League, regardless of League level(s). Each additional decade is also recognized by a bar, silver for 20- and 30-year awards and gold for subsequent awards.

The Circle of Excellence, which annually recognizes the work of sponsoring committees based on the criteria contained in the evaluation document.
